Challengers avoiding a title like “Love and Deuces” or “Double Fault” really is the triumph. That and the score being really good

Had a blast with this - if it had come out twenty years ago, it would have been paired with Cruel Intentions on cable for years, and I would have watched it every time.

I do wish it had been more sexy to me personally. The men that Luca Guadagnino finds hot and the men that I find hot are two separate circles. Neither one of these guys is bad looking, and the story works regardless. It's just... there are multiple scenes where I wanted to be screaming for them to kiss, and I was only thinking, ZENDAYA! is gonna spend thirteen years of her life fucking or pining for either of them? Come on.

Well if I'm this bricked up just from the review I can't wait to see the actual film.

As an aside, "Ziggurat"? Fucking steps? Jfc, quit making me Google shit, Mancini.

Sometimes I feel bad that half my comments are boner jokes, like the quality and thoughtfulness of Vince's analysis demands better. But then I see the coda on this review and am reminded that I'm in good company.

Expected it to be good but went out of my way to see it in Dolby because of the score. Definitely worth it (as a movie but also score).

I don't know what it is about tennis movies, but I'm immediately uninterested in them. Perhaps it's the elitism that comes with the sport. However, Luca Guadagnino is one of those filmmakers I completely appreciate even if I don't have interest in all of his projects. His Suspiria remake is fantastic. That could easily have been forgettable schlock, but in his hands, it was Art*. Great review, though. I appreciate a film review that requires me to look up a word that turns out to be just a fancy way of saying "boner."

*My phone capitalized that. It does a lot for me, so I'm letting it make its point.
