Just caught this movie and really enjoyed it. However, could they not just give everyone water guns and shoot the sentients in the ear? That shit didn’t look waterproof to me.
The thing that absolutely killed this movie for me was the complete lack of any moral complexity. AI was good, entirely in the right, and America was unjustifiably bad. It felt like Blade Runner for children, and all of the cool technology was more or less nonsensical despite being pretty.
Gareth struggles when it comes to writing, I think this is why Rogue One is the superior film. Gilroy is much better at keeping things lean.
Looking good and having vibes just isn't enough for me. We did this already in the 90s and early 2000s. I hate the comparison to Villeneuve because he provides not only the best visuals in Hollywood right now, but also meaty themes and smart storytelling.
I've had enough post Endgame Marvel shit, new age Star Wars garbage and all the rest of this IP driven nonsense. There may be some good visuals in there, but fuck off. Gareth Edwards, I appreciate the visual creativity (I was in early on Monsters), but to quote Jackie Treehorn, the brain is the biggest erogenous zone of all - make me think and I'll ejaculate the contents of my wallet at you when I go to the theatre... What was I talking about again?
Congratulations, you've sold me on a sci-fi movie. My usual and much repeated rule is if it happens in space I don't give a fuck. I do love Denzel's kid though so I'm in.
"but if any #Content Report readers have other lahmajoun ideas I’m all ears/eyes." Every day we stray further from the founding principles of Film Drunk. Hardly a your mom or dick joke to be found. Shame.
Haven't seen The Creator yet (do they explain why robots use giant kalashnikovs rather than fancy futuristic Apple iSsault rIfles? That kind of bugged me in the trailer), but that sure is a tasty looking lahmacun.
Seeing it Sunday in IMAX and your review just got me more excited! Glad Edwards is able to make his own thing

Well the AI did beat the shit out of a hostage in the beginning.

I definitely was too stuck trying to figure out plot stuff, where the right move for this movie is to just feel the vibes.
As one of Godzilla's biggest defenders, this review has me so hyped. Nukes as dildos forever
