This is the first instance of the tiniest bit of widespread class consciousness I’ve ever seen. I know the media and politicians are doing everything possible to distract us back to culture war bullshit but it’s at least nice in the moment. Seeing the comment sections of Ben Shapiro and others turn on them has been soul fulfilling.
Unrelated but I was thinking about The Bank the other day, after watching the very serviceable Aus thriller The Dry by the same director - a dude who also made The Turning and The Slap, and presumably the future director of The Definitive Article.
Dang, I didn't think anyone had heard of or remembered it. I do recall an Australian calling it a "wannabe seppo movie" in like 2002 which has stuck with me ever since.
Sicko was the first time I heard the phrase "we always have the money to kill people, but we never have the money to help people." Really stuck with me, and later found its way into this classic headline/article.
The memes have been great, I can't wait for Democrats to learn nothing from this (although props to Elizabeth Warren for getting on TV and saying "violence isn't the answer, buuuuuuuuuuuuut")
Its the Robinhood if it all. The murder gave me hope I guess(naively), that maybe this could affect some kind of change. I don't know, it's early and I was up late watching some Bluegrass.
Wait. Does no one remember the Bobcat Goldthwaith murder fantasy God Bless America? Because that was the first thing I thought of when I read about this story. If I ever get a brain tumor... (parody, parody, satire).

Anger is a gift.
Then I'm so fucking gifted.
This is not a profound thought, but my reaction was to immediately think of the "you get what you fucking deserve" clip from Joker.

Right?? Imagine if we could redirect this country's massive supply of school shooters to more productive ends
