Trying to create a libby Rogan sounds like a job for the ad people that say things like "We want to create a viral video to sell our product.". That's not how anything works.
Didn't it also come out that Peter Thiel was paying off podcasters to be right wing? He's surely not the only one. Hell, Joe Rogan could be your liberal Joe Rogan for the right price.
This is not really that related but it's been on my mind lately.
As a Canadian, watching the Trump administration lean on us for no reason other than his intrinsic whim-based shittiness reminds me of those long histories of whatever empire where you get emperors who build things and ones who realize they can just get short-term gains by fucking over their neighbouring vassal states. Maybe we should marvel at the restraint of the post-WW2 era (at least among the Western world states).
I wish you would write about politics more often because while I agree with you it’s never just preaching to the choir; I always learn something or gain a different perspective (the crypto piece from a while back was still the best quick explainer on the subject I’ve read). Thank you.
Vince, as someone who has worked in medical billing for over a decade and is getting paid an obscene amount of money to do a job that shouldn’t exist I am always happy to talk about all the fucked up ways insurance companies screw you so thoroughly you’d think they’d strike oil.
One of my favorites: let’s say you have long term disability coverage. Your insurance company is supposed to pay you two grand a month but you also qualify for SSDI (Social Security and Disability Insurance) that would pay you a grand a month. Your insurance can (and will!) pay you a grand a month and tell you if you want the rest to go on SSDI.
But SSDI is publicly funded. This is an example of the public subsidizing the worst of private industry.
Is Elizabeth Warren the only establishment Dem who's gone on TV to say, "hey, we shouldn't kill people, buuuuuut" about Luigi? Feels like that was a moment that brought everyone together, and of course they did nothing with it.
Incredible that Michael Moore laid it all out in 2007 with Sicko, and nothing's changed. That's the first time I heard "if we have the money to kill people, we have the money to help people."

Glad that Strickland changed out of his usual 14 words shirt
