Top Chef was back this week, with the most obvious tie-in: A 'Fast X' themed challenge introduced by Vin Diesel. When you dine with Dom Toretto, you're family.
I’d have made “coq au vin diesel.” Which is just regular coq au vin but it’s been left out on the counter since 2002 and everyone’s just kind of confused why it’s still around.
Canadian here! In Ottawa, we had for the longest time chip trucks as our only food trucks (Talking 80s-2015). These were all dedicated to serving either burgers, pogos, hot dogs or poutine. And by far the most popular was poutine. So yes, it really is a street food
In Toronto too! Definitely diversified these days, but in that era, it was all brown and beige and deep fried. Does poutine work as a food you can eat while walking on a sidewalk? Not really. Did we do it anyway? Yes, yes we did.
As a Tom fanboy, I find this intentionally hyperbolic criticism simultaneously funny but untrue. This is the second time Tom has done well elevating a humble vegetable ingredient into a stunner. He's the classic maverick contestant - capable of elevating to the highest of highs but also prone to disaster. That makes him a compelling contestant to root for.
Also I don't think Buddha is running away with this. As Charbel's elimination showed, you can mess up and get sent home. He is also the chef I think will win, but its a pretty narrow lead over a strong group of contestants.
This continues to be the only TV recap worth reading.

The best Top Chef recap continues! And with Restaurant Wars ahead we're really going to need someone to guide us through the chaos.
Ahem... "Seoul Fish".
You're welcome, Judy.
