He even got brought back for wine pairings in a later season too! God he sucked. The long cut of him explaining regions of France to that outdoor event was inspired editing.
None of the annoying little shits this show has traditionally given us, like Marcel Vigneron, or cocky assholes, like Stefan Richter. I do miss them, a little. What was the blond guy with the giant ties?
Love The Gato but he falls into this category. Other than that, no notes*.
*I love giving someone who has forgotten more than I will ever know about cooking my opinions.
Agreed it felt a little bit anti-climatic (that's what your Mom said), but dang Sara almost pulled off the incredible upset.
Heading into the final reveal, my wife and I "scored" the three meals, giving 3 points for the best dish in a round, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for last. It came down to 6 points for Gabri, 9 points for Sara, and... also 9 points for Buddha. But Buddha earned the tiebreaker since Sarah's raw livers were clearly a demerit. There was no way they were going to give the title to someone who served something that raw. Even if it was rare/undercooked maybe she squeaks by. But Tom made it clear it was more raw than just hard to chew.
Will definitely miss Padma as host. Really hope they don't go with a former contestant in that role. I really did like how Padma knew food but wasn't overly chefy.
Thanks for continuing the recaps on substack Vince!
My wife (MUH WIYFE) watch these together as well. Now we shall start scoring them. You guys have little post its or is it just pen to paper? Send me a form please, I'm very lazy.
"What was the blond guy with the giant ties?"
Stephen Asprino, the pretentious sommelier!
YES. I thought it was Steve something.

Re: replacing Padma: I think Kristen Kish meets 3 out of 4 criteria. And maybe she’s secretly literary too.
I've heard this suggestion and it's the best one Ive heard so far

I like Kristen but having watched her host some other stuff I think she comes off a little chilly. My pick would be Melissa King
Give me Gail or give me death.
I like Gail, and I think she’s great in her current role. I didn’t love her as host of TC Just Desserts.

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST, FOLKS!
Wish I had two likes for your Canadian bullshit. You right.

Roll with me, coward!
Don't you just love when you find sweetbreads on a menu?!
Why that particular picture as your header?
Thanks for another great season, Vince. Party on.

I don't know what kind of dialect that it, but the Frot-ese pronunciation is MAH WAIFE. Educate yourself.
